Craving that warm holiday spice? Don’t pass on this cornucopia of flavors yielding over 9 grams of Klean Isolate protein per serving.
Apple Cherry Protein Crisp
YIELD: 8 servings
INGREDIENTS
- 1 cup Pumpkin Spice Cheerios, crushed
- ½ cup oats
- ⅓ cup Klean Isolate, unflavored
- ⅓ cup + 3 Tbsp brown sugar
- ½ tsp pumpkin pie spice
- 2 Tbsp chopped walnuts
- ⅓ cup chilled butter, cut into small pieces
- 6 cored and peeled McIntosh apples, thinly sliced
- ½ cup dried cherries
- ¼ cup orange juice
- ½ tsp cinnamon
DIRECTIONS
- Preheat oven to 375 degrees.
- Mix together crushed cereal, oats, Klean Isolate, sugar and pumpkin pie spice. Use a pastry blender, large fork or your hands to blend in butter. Add walnuts.
- Combine apples, cherries, orange juice and cinnamon in a bowl and stir.
- Spoon apple mixture into a pie pan or 8-inch baking pan and top with crumb mixture.
- Bake 35-40 minutes, until golden brown.
